URLs and link checking

Unlike some systems the Jamba CMS gives you complete control of your page URLs. The CMS doesn't use any lengthy URLs - it uses a simple page name and that's it.

Simply enter a name for your page (the page you’re reading now is called 'pagenames') and your page will be visible at yourdomain.com/pagename.

Setting the page name

The CMS will even fix broken links for you. If you change the name of a page the CMS will search for links to your page and will update them accordingly.

Permalinks

It's not common practice to change the URLs of a page once it's been published as visitors who have bookmarked your page (or search engines that have indexed it) will find that the link to your page has been broken. You can get around this by making use of the permalink feature.

Each page on your site has a unique identification number that never changes. Your page layout templates can be configured to include a link to this unique number - perhaps in the form of an 'add to favourites' link, ensuring your page will always remain available, regardless of the name you assign to it.

The permalink for this page for example, is http://jambasolutions.com/perm/137. Using this link guarantees that the page will be displayed, regardless of the name assigned to it (unless the page is archived or deleted, in which case a friendly error message is displayed).
